Product Launch Formula Basics: You MUST Presell The New Plan

One of the biggest reasons a Product Launch Formula launch fails to produce the kind of results we are expecting is that people don’t believe your product or service will help them.

And one of the main reasons for that is you haven’t Pre-Sold Your New Plan.

Your people would not be consuming your Product Launch Content if they didn’t think you could help them solve a problem or achieve a desired result.

In other words, they are using some type of existing PLAN that isn’t working for them. If their existing plan worked, they would not be looking for a solution.

The Sideways Sales Letter we use in a typical Product Launch is the perfect vehicle to explain why their current plan is not working, and how your NEW plan will give them the TRANSFORMATION they need to achieve their desired result.

Your new plan MUST BE SUPERIOR, DESIRABLE AND CLEARLY DIFFERENT to anything they have ever seen or heard before.

You must clearly show how is it different to the “competition” or others selling similar solutions in your marketplace.

If you can show people why their old Plan isn’t working, and why your NEW plan offers the solution they are looking for, it’s like adding a gob of Wallet Lube to your sales process.

You should NEVER ask the people going through your Product Launch to give you money until AFTER they are convinced your new plan will work for them.

More Money From Product Launch Formula Than You Can Spend?

Would you like to make more money from Product Launch Formula than you can ever spend? Here’s the secret it took me three decades in marketing to truly understand.

Before you start creating your product, find out exactly what Present Pain your audience is FED UP with, and give them an entirely new, exciting, and desirable way out.

Offering solutions to a nagging pain your audience wants relief from RIGHT NOW is far more effective than offering to help them achieve a future gain that is somewhere off in the future.

So how the hell do you do that I hear you asking.

The first step is to come up with a list of potential Present Pains you are confident your audience is suffering from. You’re looking for stuff you know they are ALREADY desperate to fix, or desires they want to achieve RIGHT NOW.

Then, you create a short email/post inviting people to make the change they ALREADY want to make to achieve that outcome. Ask people to respond back to you if they would like more details.

Then when people reply, spend time asking questions and listening to their answers.

Once they have told you exactly what they are looking for, make an offer based on what they just told you.

What questions should you ask?

Ask them:

  • What’s important to them about making the change? Keep asking until you get to the truth.
  • Is this a change you want to make now? Or later? Why?
  • What happens if they don’t make a change? Who else is affected? What would that mean for you and them?
  • What’s stopping them from making the change on their own?
  • What have they tried so far? What happened? Why did that not work?
  • Would they like help getting over the obstacle they just told you about?

If you ask a dozen people…

You WILL have your offer dialled in better than 99% of other marketers, and you WILL make sales.

Incorporate what you’ve learned into your sales page (or a Google Doc), and then send them to the offer and make sale after sale after sale.

So…

What this really boils down to is:

  • Make invitations
  • Ask Questions
  • Put it in an offer
  • Keep listening, write down what they say and adjusting the offer
  • Make millions in sales

We must be SPECIFIC and RELEVANT!

We must talk about a very TANGIBLE relief from a Present Pain, be able to point a finger at the results people will get, and including a time frame for when people can expect results really helps.

Some Examples To Drive This Home

1) Most people are pretty happy to jump into cars with people we don’t know AT ALL to give us rides. We are literally risking our LIVES trusting somebody we have never met.

Why?

Because we have a super specific need…and it’s a RIGHT NOW need.

2) We’ll go to brand-new restaurants or stop at a food truck we’ve never seen before and let people we’ve never met prepare our food, which goes into our mouths!

Why?

Because we have a super specific need, NOW!

Authority is a nice card to have in your hand.

But if you don’t have it…

Get as specific and relevant as you can.

And your product launch results will be off the charts.

As Robert Kiyosaki says in his Rich Dad, Poor Dad book series, the wealthy don’t work for money. Many of them work to create the most profitable, most leveragable, and most misunderstood assets instead.

And these assets pour dividends, royalties, rents and residual income into their bank accounts whether they are working, relaxing or just goofing off…

When I first read Rich Dad, Poor Dad my focus was on property investment because I already had a couple of rentals, and I didn’t know about the stock market, Art, Commodities, Bonds or anything else for that matter.

Kiyosaki hinted at other types of assets, but because he didn’t spell it out in a way I understood, I missed the lesson he was teaching.

So what IS the Worlds most profitable, leveragable and mis-understood asset?

It’s Intellectual Property, often referred to as IP.

You’ve probably hears about I.P. being sold or traded for huge amounts.

  • Disney purchased the Rights to The Muppets, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox, giving them ownership of major franchises like Toy Story and Star Wars. (Source)
  • Bob Dylan sold 100% of his publishing catalogue to Universal Music Publishing (est. US$300-400 million). On January 24, 2022, Sony acquired his master recordings. That’s worth another ~US$200 million (Source)
  • Stevie Nicks sold a majority stake in her songs to Primary Wave, US$100 million (Source)

However these huge deals are just the tip of an Iceberg of opportunity for the rest of us!

Anybody can use Intellectual Property to make income and capital gains once they know how.

#1- It’s at the top of the Asset Pyramid

Need a product? You can easily buy, rent or borrow the I.P. to a product by licensing it from somebody else.

Need product distribution? Tap into other people’s networks by placing your product into their customer flow.

I.P. has no tenants, toilets, or termites. And you don’t need to have good credit or spend 20 years in debt waiting for prices and rents to rise to start seeing great passive income.

#3 – Outperforms Stocks & Other Financial Markets

If you start saving diligently now and with hard work, persistence and after sitting through a crash every decade or so… in 30 or 40 years you may have $10 million.

You could then put it into bonds and generate $400k a year – 30 years from now. After inflation, that’s not going to go as far as it does now

#4 – Busting our arse running a business

We need people who will take on the responsibility and risk of running a business. The world would be a tragic place without them. A few will be lucky enough to sell to Private Equity or another buyer for a huge payday.

But I’m 65 now and I don’t want to marry a business and divorce my life for 5, 10 or 20 years.

And while a big payday would be great, it’s the recurring INCOME I’m after. I love earning royalties and residual payments for “work” I trade for assets once.

This income can be mine NOW, by owning or controlling one or two pieces of intellectual property and placing them into the buyer flow of OTHER PEOPLE’S businesses.

#5 – I.P. can be created out of Thin Air

You can have NO money, NO reputation and be dumped in a strange city…

…and if you can find a public library with computer access, you can be earning royalties and residuals within 7 to 14 days.

With A High Ticket Product Launch You MUST Presell Price

If you are running a product launch for a high ticket product or service (anything over $500 qualifies), then one of the biggest and most intractable objections you will get will be people complaining about price.

They may NOT be outright telling you the price is to high, but you will know they are thinking it and your sales will reflect it.

The fact is many people will THINK the price is too high if you haven’t PRE-SOLD the price before you make your offer.

Now you can always do nothing and hope things turn around…

Maybe your launch will go well and your business will survive?

I don’t have a crystal ball…

But for those who are proactive and don’t want their success to be at the mercy of “the flying fickle finger of fate” (hat tip to Monty Python)…

Pre-Selling Price is one of the most important of the 5Ps.

So how do we Pre-Sell Price During Our Product Launch?

One simple way is to point out how much NOT buying is going to cost your prospects.

Let’s say you are selling a $2,000 Training and Coaching Program that teaches business owners how to launch their own product, service or business.

Through researching your current buyers, you know your average prospect sells a $500 product, generates 1,000 prospects a month, and converts 3% of those people into customers.

So the math is: 1,000 X 3% = 30 new customers

30 X $500 = $15,000

Per month.

To Pre-Sell your $2,000 Price, you casually mention that your typical customer has increased their conversions from 3% to 6% by using the process they will learn in the Program.

You could even use the example above (although most business owners will intuitively GET how much doubling conversions will make them) soo it’s impossible for them to miss the implications.

Now many prospects would feel like an idiot for NOT buying your $2,000 Program because you have shown them they could be missing out on an extra $15,000 A MONTH.

Makes your $2,000 price seem insignificant doesn’t it?

As an example, what would be the Reputation Risk an environmental activist and vegan would face if she stated eating meat and swapped her Prius for a Dodge Ram?

The blowback from her peers would be immediate and devastating.

And her Identity would never allow her to Risk everything she stands for if she were to consider such a drastic change.

This is why we have to address ALL of the potential risk factors when we are making our product launch offer.

Sales are made faster because the risk and friction has been removed. 

And we eat the other guy’s lunch who doesn’t have a clue.
