Here’s The REAL Power Behind A Product Launch Formula Style ‘JV Launch’

There are a LOT of benefits in following the Product Launch Formula to run a big JV Launch.

First up, as long as you’ve tested your pre-launch content, your offer and the rest of your sales process (usually best done using a Seed Launch or an Internal Launch), you can make a hell of a LOT of money because you are leveraging the lists of a lot of other people who are all sending you their prospects and customers.

Then there are the great relationships you’ll build with other people in your market who supported you during the launch. Any way you look at it, helping people to make more money and grow their influence is always going to have a positive effect on your business too.

But there’s a third big benefit that most people don’t realise is the most powerful one of all.

It’s the big list you get to build during your JV Launch that creates much more value than the actual sales you make at the time.

Here’s why:

Let’s say your business is in the golf market, and your Launch is for a coaching program that helps amateur golfers take strokes off their game while improving their mental toughness.

If you play your cards right, you’ll have a bunch of JV partners driving traffic to your website, and all of those people will be added to YOUR email list.

When your launch is over, YOU get use that new, bigger list as a distribution channel to sell all kinds of other products and services and you get to keep ALL OF THE PROFIT on those sales.

That’s because once somebody has shown their interest by making a golf related purchase, they are far more likely to buy other products and services in that category than somebody who has never purchased a golf product.

And you use joint ventures with other vendors to get access to all of these other products.

Just think of the possibilities…

You could offer:

  • Additional training programs that add to and complement your own.
  • A set of new golf clubs and all kinds of accessories to help improve their game.
  • New golf shirts just like the pros wear on the PGA tour. 
  • New covers for your woods and maybe even their irons.
  • Private or group lessons from a club or touring professional to improve their game even more.
  • You could team up with a travel agent and offer golfing tours and holidays so they can play at the best courses around the country or the world.
  • And of course there are all kinds of other products and services you could offer as well…

And you can earn a great commission or referral fee on every one of these additional sales you make, for as long as people stay subscribed to your email list.

That’s why the list you build during a JV launch is such a valuable asset, in addition to the immediate income you generate.

How To Boost Your Product Launch Profits By Selling Affiliate Products

As you will have seen in Jeff’s Product Launch Formula training and in this article on running a Seed Launch, creating your own products, and then using a launch to release it, is the most reliable way to continue earning a great income.

But that’s only part of the story…

As we’ve talked about in the JV Launch post, one of the biggest benefits of a launch is the huge list-build you can do. When you have a group other people (your JV launch partners) sending you their best subscribers and those people are joining your email list, that gives you an incredible advantage both immediately and in the future.

The JV leaderboard in the lead generation contest for Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula launch shows that6 of the top 11 people on the leaderboard were dominating JEFF’S launch using the lists they built during their own launch. It’s proof that promoting affiliate products successfully can be a slam dunk once you’ve launched your own product.

Pretty cool eh?

So what these people are doing is what’s called an Affiliate Launch.

It’s not really discussed in the free training, but what it entails is using a sequence of email messages (often supplied by the merchant you are promoting) and ‘launching’ an affiliate product, even if that product has been around for years.

You use the same mental triggers to generate an incredibly high response.

Some of those triggers include:

  • Reciprocity
  • Anticipation
  • Social Proof
  • Proof
  • Community
  • Interaction and Conversation
  • Scarcity

…all interwoven into an event-based marketing promotion.

In the case of Jeff’s launch, the product is only available for a few days each year, so the scarcity for the product itself is real.

But you can still create the same scarcity for a product or service that is available all year by offering limited-time bonuses during your Affiliate Launch, and then removing the bonuses after the event is over.

How To Create A Crushing Offer For Your Product Launch Formula Launch

The easiest way to make sure your product launch is a hit with your customers is to go all out and create what Jeff Walker calls a Crushing Offer.

So what is a Crushing Offer?

Here’s what Jeff says about it in his Product Launch Formula Mind Map

1 – Create an offer so strong it’s almost impossible to refuse. In other words, people would feel like an idiot for not taking you up on it.

2 – Give people what they want, because it makes everything a LOT easier for you

3 – Identify and answer objections during your launch content and forget about using any kind of “hard sell”

The idea is to make your launch offer so compelling that it’s easier for people to say yes than it is to say no.

The thing you’re launching should give your new customers everything they want to solve a problem they’ve told you they have, or achieve an outcome they told you they wanted to achieve.

And as you’ll recall, you learned how to find out exactly what they want by surveying them both BEFORE you started your Seed Launch, and then each week as you rolled out your Seed Launch to get feedback and gauge how your students were going.

That way you know your potential customers are going to be salivating over the prospect of getting their hands on your awesome new product as soon as you release it.

As Jeff says, rather than overwhelming people with a bunch of stuff in an effort to give your product a ‘Thud Factor’, when you find out exactly what people want to buy, and you make them an irresistible offer for it, you don’t have to ‘sell’ them on buying.

They naturally want to give you money to get the solution you KNOW they are after because they told you what it was.

How To Do A Seed Launch Step By Step

As Jeff Walker teaches in his Product Launch Formula training, the first launch you should do if you don’t have a list or a product is a Seed Launch.

The Seed Launch is AWESOME if:

  • You’re just starting out and you don’t have a list or product.
  • You’ve got an existing business and you want to test out a new idea.
  • You want to get paid before you actually create the product.
  • You’re a “perfectionist” and you’re having a hard time ever finishing your products.

Here are the quick steps you’ll be taking in your Seed Launch

Step 1: Gather your initial Seed list

Start to gather a small Seed List with a simple squeeze page to collect email addresses in exchange for a Lead Magnet or some premium content

Send a personal email to everybody you know telling them you are starting a newsletter on ______ topic,and asking them if they’d like to receive it.

Publish or post ideas related to your topic on social media channels including groups related to your niche market.

Once you’ve gathered 100 email addresses, continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Put together a simplified Sideways Sales Letter

See video 1 in this series if you need a refresher on the Sideways Sales Letter.

Your simplified Sideways Sales Letter doesn’t have to be fancy, and it doesn’t have to be video… it can be a series of emails or social media posts.

Make an offer for a series of 3-7 group coaching calls where you deliver your content on a one-to-many format.

Step 3: Deliver your content over a series of webinars or teleseminars

Split your topic area into a series of sub-topics, and teach one for each call.

Before the first call, send out a super-short survey to find out the top questions on that sub-topic so you know what your students want to know the most.

Use the survey responses to plan what you need to cover on the first call.

Repeat the surveys after each call asking what additional questions they have on the upcoming sub-topic. Use the questions to plan the call.

Record everything, get it transcribed, and package your recordings and transcripts into a product.

Then you’re ready to do an Internal Launch to the people on your email database who didn’t participate in your Seed Launch training.

How To Create A Totally Irresistible Offer For Your Next Product Launch

Since I started doing product launches in 2007 (after grabbing Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula course), people have been asking me questions that basically boil down to this:

“I’m about to launch a new product (or service), but I’m not sure if I have created an offer that’s irresistible enough to convert. How can I improve my offer to make it irresistible, without spending a lot of time and money coming up with additional products or bonuses.”

Let’s use an example to demonstrate how you can do this easily and inexpensively.

Let’s say you’ve got a video training program that shows people how to launch their own product.

Your core program includes 10 videos that show how to find out what people want to buy, how to create the course content so it educates and inspires, how to create and implement a marketing system, and how to make sales of related products and services on the backend.

Now in the past, the goal has been to try to increase the value of a product by adding what they call ‘thud value’. That meant the more ‘stuff’ you included with your offer, the higher the perceived value you were offering.

And even now, a lot of people are tempted to throw in a range of additional, unrelated ‘bonus’ products or services, that while valuable in their own right, can distract your customers from the core outcome they are after, which is to launch a product or service of their own.

The problem is that these days, people have less time to go through all of that additional stuff. Most of us want to quickly learn shortcuts or ‘hacks’ we can use to get results fast.

So products with lots of moving parts, or that require a lot of time to consume or understand, are often seen as LESS valuable than products that help us get results quickly, with less time spent learning the ropes.

So to quickly increase the value of a product like this, without overwhelming your customers with irrelevant ‘stuff’ just because you are trying to add ‘thump value’, you should add components that complement the original, core training in some way.

Some product launch upgrade examples are:

  • Transcripts and MP3 Audios – Some people prefer to read or listen to audio files while they are working out or travelling, so giving people all three types of content (video, audio, and written) is a proven way to add value, without spending a lot of additional time or money. Just have somebody convert your videos to audio, and transcribe your audios into PDF documents, and you’re all set.
  • Checklists, Worksheets and Spreadsheets – Include these for each stage of the product launch process. Information is great, but when you add in “take action” tools to help people apply the information you are giving them, you are helping then achieve the result they are after more easily.
  • Mind Maps – Because not everyone thinks about information in a linear way, some people can grasp a complex concept easier if it’s presented in the form of a mind map or flow chart.
  • Personal Coaching – Including some type of personal or group coaching to help people when they get stuck has an incredibly high real and perceived value. This can be text-based coaching, such as via email, Skype or phone based. Or it can be group coaching via Webinars or Teleseminars.
  • Live Events – Live events have a very high perceived value and are a great way to bookend a high-ticket product. In other words, you could start your product delivery off with a live Seminar, or you could hold a live Seminar at the end of the program to give participants additional insights, help, advice and coaching.
  • A Private Mastermind Community – Including a private Facebook group where members can interact, chat, ask and answer questions and network together is a proven way to give your customers significantly more value.

By creating additional resources like this and including them as part of your product when you launch, you can substantially increase it’s value without overwhelming your new students with a bunch of extra, unnecessary content that distracts them from the critical path of achieving the results they are looking for.
