Today’s 5 Most Profitable Product Launch Strategies

In this post we’re going to look at the 5 most profitable product launch strategies Jeff Walker teaches inside his Product Launch Formula program, and we’ll look at when you should use each one based on where you are in your business right now.

The 5 Primary Product Launch Types are:

  • The Seed Launch
  • The Internal Launch
  • The Joint Venture Launch
  • The Quick Launch
  • The Evergreen Launch

Depending on your goal and the products and services you sell, you could be considering one of these launch types to test the waters, or you could have several of them underway at the same time.

So let’s take a look at each of them in more detail, starting with:

The Seed Launch

The Seed Launch is great when you are just getting started with a new idea, and you want to create a product you KNOW your market wants to buy.

It’s also good option if you have no email list (or a small list), because it can help you build a list of prospects and buyers quickly. So basically it’s a way you can get your first list and your first product, and it’s also a great way to create a new product anytime.

Next up we have the bread and butter strategy of the Product Launch Ecosystem:

The Internal Product Launch

The Internal Launch is where we use the classic Sideways Sales Letter which consists of 3 pieces of Prelaunch Content spaced out over a few days or a week, leading into a sales video or sales letter where you open your shopping cart and start selling your product or service.

The Internal Launch (learn more about the Internal Product Launch here) gives you the opportunity to create and test your Prelaunch Content in a relatively save environment (because you are launching to your own prospects and customers), so you can prove your marketing in preparation for the next step, which is:

The Joint Venture (JV) Launch

Once you’ve completed your Internal launch, hardened your systems in preparation for an massive increase in website traffic, and proven your sales process converts, it’s time to bring in Joint Venture partners and affiliates to drive traffic to your Prelaunch Content and run your Joint Venture Launch.

The JV Launch is like pouring fuel on a fire because you can grow your email list super fast and generate a bunch of sales quickly. For many marketers, the list-build is the most valuable part of a JV Launch, because when you do it right you can generate thousands of new leads and paying customers who you can sell to over and over again in the future.

Then we have:

The Quick Product Launch

The Quick Launch is a way to generate an influx of sales and cash quickly based around an event or a deadline. It’s quick, simple and very easy.

You just have to have an offer for a product or service, and an email list to promote to.

It’s very different to a Seed Launch or Internal Launch because it’s email only (no Prelaunch Content required), is story based, and you can make a lot of money quickly and easily, usually in just 3 to 5 days.

And finally, there’s:

The Evergreen Launch

Once you’ve proven your marketing funnel converts using an Internal Launch (or a JV Launch), you can take all of that content and set it up as a recurring sales system so when people join your email list, they go through their own personal version of your Product Launch

Having an Evergreen Launch makes your cashflow much more consistent because people are going through the process consistently based on when they join their list.

These work very well with paid traffic, so they are a great way to build your list and generate sales consistently over time.

So there you have the five PRIMARY types of launches taught in Product Launch Formula. Jeff has kept adding new versions of these, but these 5 are your bread and butter when using his PLF system.

Each type of launch will suit you at different times, and the one you use first will depend on where you are right now in your business.

Outsource Your Product Launch Workflow With This 19-Point Checklist

It’s no secret that running a Product Launch can involve a huge amount of work and suck up lots of your time and energy. That’s why outsourcing some or all of the grunt work can be a true life (and sanity) saver.

Of course there will be some things you are going to want to do yourself, but there are many tasks that don’t involve you operating in your Zone of Genius that other people can do nearly as well (or even better) than you.

Having these done by others can free up copious amounts of time and will allow you to do your absolute best work.

Let me give you some specific examples of tasks you can outsource that will help you to streamline the preparation and running of your next Product Launch:

  • Set up your launch website and sales funnel. This includes designing the site, creating the funnel page content, designing the checkout page, and creating the members area or download page for your customers to access their purchase.
  • Manage the technical details of your website for the initial launch and also on an ongoing basis. For example, you could hire someone to ensure your site is secure, and is up to the task of withstanding the increased traffic flow of a launch.
  • Create the email sequence for your Pre Launch Content. You could give this person an outline for your Pre Launch Content flow and they can upload the draft sequence to your CRM or Autoresponder service.
  • Plan and implement a pay per click advertising strategy to build and grow your Launch List.
  • Plan your social media marketing strategy for generating Launch traffic. You might have someone plan one aspect (such as Facebook marketing), or help you plan and integrate all major social media platforms into your overall marketing plan.
  • Find and recruit affiliates if you are at the stave of doing a JV Launch. This person could also manage your affiliate program on an ongoing basis, such as by running contests, sending out motivational emails to affiliates, sending payments (if you’re using a self hosting affiliate program), and other management tasks.
  • Create content for your blog. This includes ongoing how to articles, tips articles, product reviews and other content to generate traffic to grow your Launch List.
  • Write content for guest blogging. You can also hire someone to locate these sorts of lucrative guest blogging opportunities, and contact the blog owners on your behalf.
  • Create the sales letter or sales video for your Launch. Your copywriter can also create other sales materials to support the sales letter, such as your video sales letter script, solo emails and pay per click ads.
  • Write a report to use as a Lead Magnet. This could be a freebie to get people into your sales funnel, a paid product, or a bonus product to go along with your main Launch Offer.
  • Design an infographic. You can hire someone to put together the design only, or you can hire someone to do all the research as well.
  • Develop an app. This could be a lead magnet or a paid product. It might even be a web-based app you offer to members of your membership site.
  • Improve conversions. This person could test, track and tweak your sales letters, ads and overall marketing campaigns to fine tune your Launch offer.
  • Scout out lucrative advertising opportunities. This person can find ad venues and report back to you about the cost, the site’s demographics, as well as their impressions of the overall quality of the site. 
  • Arrange interviews and other publicity opportunities for you. For example, if applicable your person can land interview spots with local media, as well as national outlets such as talk radio. This person can also create and submit regular press releases.
  • Convert your text products into other formats. For example, this person could convert a book into an audio, video or even a Kindle book.
  • Optimize your website for the search engines (SEO). Your SEO specialist can optimize your site’s structure and content, as well as do a link-building campaign.
  • Plan a viral marketing campaign. Your consultant can help you design content and campaigns that are likely to go viral. Some freelancers even have connections or networks to help kick start the initial viral effect.
  • Do market research. This will help you identify additional profitable niches and give you ideas for future products.

Think of it this way: outsourcing in this way allows you to reach a place where you make money that you would otherwise miss out on.  Why not spend $25, $100, or $500 in order to make five, ten or a hundred times more while saving yourself a LOT of precious time and energy?

How To Create A Coaching Program Using A Seed Launch

After trading and investing for over 25 years, a few months ago I decided to use a Seed Launch to create an information product and coaching program to share my knowledge and all of the good and bad things I’ve lived through over the years.

To create the course content I offered students 6 live Zoom Webinars with several follow up Zoom Q&A meetings. I also included recordings of everything, Cheat Sheets, Quizzes to test student’s knowledge and understanding, Workbooks, a private Facebook group and more.

Because the first live program was fun to do and was so well received, I ran it two more times. Both of these times I had new members sign up while existing members were allowed to join in free of charge.

By the third iteration, the content was nailed down and I had filled in any gaps I found in the knowledge I wanted to share as we went through the training.

Once the content was all edited and uploaded to a new membership site, I was ready to launch a higher ticket Mentoring Program where students had even more access to me in addition to all the training created during the three iterations of the Seed Launch.

This strategy is terrific if you’d like a quick boost to your sales and profits without spending a dime on marketing or advertising and really takes some beating.

If you’re at all familiar with Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula, you’ll know that one of his favourite methods is what he calls his Seed Launch as well as the Quick Launch.

Here’s an overview of the 4-Step process in pulling one off.

Step 1 – Test To See If There Is Demand For The Product

I decided to use a Seed Launch to create the content because I wanted to have as much feedback on what people in my target marketed actually wanted instead of just creating something and hoping they would buy it.

One of the great things about this is you don’t have to spend weeks or months creating a product or a program if there’s no demand for it. You can send an email or Facebook post called a ‘Shot across the bow’ and see if anybody is interested.

If there’s no interest, you don’t go ahead with the product which saves you all that time and work. If there is interest, you survey the people who responded and ask them more about what they would like to learn.

Step 2 – Demand? Check! Let’s Create An Offer

The response honestly surprised me. A whole bunch of people left Facebook, opened their email and send me a message with Livermore in the subject line.

Watching those emails come in was so exciting because I knew I had a potential winner on my hands. If nobody had asked for more information, I would have killed the idea right there and saved myself a bunch of time, energy and disappointment.

But with so many people raising their hands after just ONE Facebook post, it looked like the project might be a winner.

Here’s a summary of the offer I came up with:

1. We’ll start by making sure you have a complete understanding of how to determine the position of any market so you will know with a high degree of confidence IF a valid trend is unfolding, and if so where you are positioned within that trend.

You will know how to find and participate in fast moving trends (good) while staying out when markets are not trending (bad). There are some other cool techniques I’ll share with you that will put your understanding of trends on steroids.

2. Next, we’ll dig into understanding TIME. As Gann said Time is more important than price and understanding how to Time markets is the factor I get more questions about than anything else. You’ll be able to know in advance where market turning points are likely to occur.

The old adage ‘The trend is your friend’ is true… unless the trend is about to end. I’ll show you how I was able to confidently enter the AUD/USD long at the March 2020 low, buy the May 15th 2020 low in the EUR/USD, sell at the February 2020 high in the SPX and buy at the March 2020 low. Plus, there will be many more examples.

3. We will look at how Gann’s work dovetails with Elliott Wave analysis, so you’ll be able to accurately enter Elliott Wave 3’s and 5’s when they are first starting. Knowing when a market is in Wave 3 or 5 allows us to use leverage and/or compound with additional positions with safety and low capital exposure. I have never discussed compounding before. It is extremely powerful…

4. We’ll focus on developing your own personal action plan, something you are completely comfortable with, which is the key to being able to act on signals and hold a position in a trending market… This ability alone will be a big breakthrough for you.

5. Ongoing video training updates, Special Reports and email coaching lessons covering opportunities and special situations as they develop in the markets.

Any one of these things can move the needle immediately for you, and my experience is that ONE of these is going to resonate with you and stand out as the BIG opportunity for you specifically… so we’ll be able to spend more time on that one with you.
