How A Use A Product Launch For Traditional Brick And Mortar Business

A lot of people who sell physical products or services ask me how on earth they could possibly do a Product Launch Formula style launch if:

  1. Their business has been around for a while and there’s nothing new to ‘launch’
  2. Their product or service isn’t new and they have no plans to upgrade it
  3. They don’t have the budget to include a bunch of bonuses with their offer

If this is your problem, the secret is to create what Jeff calls a Crushing Offer by adding one or more of these –

  • A ‘Premium’ version of your product or service that includes additional features the standard version doesn’t
  • A package of digital guides, videos, White Papers, reports, cheat sheets, mind maps or checklists that show your customers how to get more out of your product or service
  • Discount coupons for additional services you provide that enhance or complement the main product people are purchasing
  • Discount coupons and special offers from OTHER merchants in related fields that give your customers a chance to get a discount or extra services, AND let the other merchants acquire a new customer at break even or even a small profit

These types of bonuses make your prospect’s buying decision much easier, which can increase your conversion rate (and your revenues).

Let’s look at a quick example

Say you are a Wedding Gown supplier and you’d like to run a launch to generate a burst of sales during your slow season.

You could approach all of the businesses on the list below and ask them to give you coupons for discounted/free stuff in exchange for you reciprocating and helping them to promote their products and services to your customers as well:

  • Artificial Flowers
  • Beauty Therapists
  • Bomboniere
  • Bridal Accessories
  • Bridal Expos
  • Bridal Gown Boutiques
  • Bridal Lingerie
  • Bridal Shoes
  • Bridesmaids Gowns
  • Cake Designers
  • Celebrants
  • Ceremony Music
  • Ceremony Venues
  • Clubs for Receptions
  • Gown Designers
  • Disc Jockeys
  • Dried Flowers
  • Entertainment Agents
  • Florists
  • Function Centres
  • Grooms Fashion
  • Grooms Shoes
  • Hairdressers
  • Hens and Bucks Parties
  • Hire Equipment Suppliers
  • Honeymoon Destinations
  • Hotels
  • Caterers
  • Jewellers
  • Live Entertainers
  • Make Up Artists
  • Master of Ceremonies
  • Photo Booths
  • Photographers
  • Reception Centres
  • Resorts
  • Restaurants
  • Stationary Suppliers
  • Wedding Transport and Limos
  • Travel Agents
  • Wedding Videographers
  • Wedding Stylists

As you can see, there are plenty of different businesses you could approach to work with.

Oh, and ALL of these people could also be your Launch Joint Venture partners.

That means they could send your pre-launch content to their email subscribers and share it on their social media pages, and you could pay them a referral fee for each wedding gown you sell.

AND EVERY business on this list could do the same thing with all of the other merchants on the list.

You are only limited by your ability to work collaboratively and create win-win deals with your fellow business owners…

You could run a product launch like this 3 or 4 times a year, and help your Joint Venture partner’s businesses by promoting their products and services to your prospects and customers during the other months.

The more I think about this, the more excited I get about the whole product launch thing for brick and mortar businesses…

And one final tip: Remember, it IS possible to create a simple product you can use as a valuable bonus in 60 minutes or less, especially if you use audio, do an interview or start with Private Label Rights material.

Here are some examples:

You sell fishing rods. As a bonus, you can offer a report called “The Secrets of Catching Trophy-Winning Barramundi.”

You sell an Italian cookbook (either a physical or digital version). As a bonus, you toss in “Italian Cooking Made Easy, Volume 2.”

The benefit of offering a digital bonus alongside a physical product or service is that you end up creating a “hybrid” product, and the perceived value of your offer becomes much greater than if you just sell the ‘thing’ on it’s own.

If you’d like to learn more about using a product launch for your traditional or brick and mortar business, so you can grow the sales and profits and increase your business’s value, you can do that here.

Some Ideas For Using The ‘Product Launch Formula’ To Grow Your Business

Jeff Walker's Product Launch FormulaQuite a few people have told me (some quite vocally – lol) that there’s just no way they could possibly apply what Jeff Walker has been teaching in his Product Launch Formula training to their non-internet based, offline brick-and-mortar businesses.

Actually, it’s easier than you might think…

You can apply most of what Jeff teaches in the pre-launch videos to any business, regardless of what you sell.

A few ideas off the top of my head are:

  • focusing on LIST BUILDING as the main goal for your business
  • using strategic alliances and joint ventures to drive traffic to your optin page
  • segmenting people on the front end so you can send them customised content
  • using a mix of generic and customised content throughout your funnel based on this segmenting
  • using high quality video to get your message out
  • turning each promotion you run into an event
  • using pre-launch content to create buzz
  • using educational marketing to position yourself as the expert
  • using social proof (Facebook comments, testimonials and case studies)
  • using deadlines and scarcity to increase conversions
  • using a dedicated sales page or sales videos with compelling reason-why copy to showcase each product (where appropriate)
  • using exclusivity to limit access to a small number of people
  • promoting perceived and real value instead of trying to compete on  price
  • creating an irresistible offer that is risk free to your customers

…and probably a bunch of others I haven’t thought of.

Now if this quick summary was helpful and it’s got you thinking, I think you’ll really enjoy these videos that show some case studies from businesses that have used the launch process with awesome results.

Just a few of the examples are:

  • how Jason and his wife Cinnamon multiplied their results by 10x in a very small business selling doll clothes
  • how Kami launched her book and follow-up courses, with 3 of her 4 launches since then doing more than $10,000 in sales
  • how Kara Andretta did a $91,000 launch in the couture cakes market (I didn’t even know that was a thing lol)
  • how Ross Grant who teaches actors about high performance made $15,000 from a list of 180 people

And there are several more…

You can watch the case study videos here.

I really hope you find them helpful.

And you can learn all about how to run a launch for YOUR business in Jeff’s Product Launch Formula Masterclass which is available for free here.

How To Increase Your Launch Profits With Passive Recommendations

A simple but very effective way you can increase the long-term profits you make from your Product Launch Formula style launch is to promote products (either your own or affiliate products) inside your product.

It’s particularly easy with products that teach people how to achieve a result using a step-by-step process, because there are going to be additional tools and resources they are going to need to complete the steps involved.

Plus your students are going to run into a hundred technology questions and will be asking about all kinds of other stuff as well.

So what’s the best way to go about this?

I think that would be creating a Rolodex of Resources, and positioning it as a BONUS for your launch, because it will truly save your students wasting tons of time on research, and money if they buy the wrong stuff and have to buy something else.

For example, if your course teaches how to build a website and start selling a product, people need:

  • A domain name
  • Website hosting
  • A website theme
  • Anti-hacking software
  • An autoresponder or CRM
  • SEO training or services
  • Video training or video creation services
  • Content creation tools or services
  • A shopping cart service
  • Product creation training or services
  • Email marketing training or services

And the list goes on…

Your Rolodex can include recommendations for each one of these products or services, and use your affiliate link for each one. You can even negotiate a special deal with each product’s vendor.

This does two valuable things.

It shows your customers you are truly interested in helping them. And many of these people are going to buy those resources through you instead of going elsewhere to purchase and paying full price.

Promoting related, helpful products like this on the backend can lead to huge time and money savings for your customers, and you making significant back-end profits in addition to the money you make during your launch.

And as a big bonus, you don’t have to give ANY of this additional affiliate revenue (which is 100% pure profit) to your Joint Venture partners or affiliates.

Just another big benefit of launching you own product using the Product Launch Formula process.

If you’d like to learn more about using a product launch to grow the sales and profits for your business, you can do that here.

How To Boost Your Product Launch Profits By Selling Affiliate Products

As you will have seen in Jeff’s Product Launch Formula training and in this article on running a Seed Launch, creating your own products, and then using a launch to release it, is the most reliable way to continue earning a great income.

But that’s only part of the story…

As we’ve talked about in the JV Launch post, one of the biggest benefits of a launch is the huge list-build you can do. When you have a group other people (your JV launch partners) sending you their best subscribers and those people are joining your email list, that gives you an incredible advantage both immediately and in the future.

The JV leaderboard in the lead generation contest for Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula launch shows that6 of the top 11 people on the leaderboard were dominating JEFF’S launch using the lists they built during their own launch. It’s proof that promoting affiliate products successfully can be a slam dunk once you’ve launched your own product.

Pretty cool eh?

So what these people are doing is what’s called an Affiliate Launch.

It’s not really discussed in the free training, but what it entails is using a sequence of email messages (often supplied by the merchant you are promoting) and ‘launching’ an affiliate product, even if that product has been around for years.

You use the same mental triggers to generate an incredibly high response.

Some of those triggers include:

  • Reciprocity
  • Anticipation
  • Social Proof
  • Proof
  • Community
  • Interaction and Conversation
  • Scarcity

…all interwoven into an event-based marketing promotion.

In the case of Jeff’s launch, the product is only available for a few days each year, so the scarcity for the product itself is real.

But you can still create the same scarcity for a product or service that is available all year by offering limited-time bonuses during your Affiliate Launch, and then removing the bonuses after the event is over.

Very cool…

If you’d like to learn more about building a great big list of very targeted prospects you can promote affiliate products to in the future by using a product launch, and then step-by-step how to do an Affiliate Launch, you can do that here.

2 Big Product Launch Benefits Many People Forget About

We’ve been looking at many of the major benefits of using the Product Launch Formula process to release a new product or service in recent articles, but there are two big ones that many people don’t realise.

The first one is that you can create a lot of raving fans who become evangelists for you and your company.

And the second is that even those people who don’t become raving fans often feel a much closer relationship with you because the get to see the ‘real’ you, and see (maybe for the first time) that your really are trying to help them.

As you know, the best customers are those who know, like and trust you. They tend to buy more of your stuff, pay higher prices with less resistance, complain less, and bring their friends and family into your business.

A product launch can help you to identify these awesome customers, and single them out for special attention so they feel even more special.

How do you find them?

One way is to watch the comments people leave for you during your launch. Many of your biggest fans will self-select and raise their hands by writing wonderful comments in the Facebook comments area of your launch blog.

They’ll shout your praises and tell everybody else that you are awesome, often share the results they’ve achieved using your stuff, and sometimes even tell people why they should buy your product or service.

Importantly, you’ll also see a few people raising objections to buying in the comments, and this gives you a chance to address those objections in your future launch videos, in your video sales letter when the time comes, and the emails you send people during the week your launch is live.

You just have to look at the comments on Jeff Walker’s PLF Launch Blog (it may no longer be live depending on when you read this, so I’ve included a small screen shot below – note there were 2047 comments when I took this!)

Product Launch Formula Facebook Comments

As you can see, there’s a LOT of interaction and relationship-building going on during Jeff’s launch. Of course you’d have to assume the master of the online product launch is going to have that for his.

But what about you? Honestly, while the numbers will be smaller (especially when you are starting out), you can get the same kind of interaction with your launch when you follow the PLF process.

You can learn more about that process for yourself by watching Jeff’s free video training here.

Here’s How To ‘Launch’ (Or Re-launch) Your Business In The Wedding Industry

A lot of wedding industry professionals, service providers, retailers and wholesalers ask me how on earth they could possibly do a Product Launch Formula style launch if:

  1. Their wedding business has been around for a while and there’s nothing new to ‘launch’
  2. Their products and services aren’t new, and they have no plans to upgrading or adding to them
  3. They don’t have the budget to include a bunch of additional incentives with their offer to increase it’s perceived value

If you supply goods and services to the wedding market and this is your problem, the secret is to come up with a launch (or actually, a re-launch) plan that includes what Jeff calls a Crushing Offer.

And you do that by adding one or more of these things to what you are currently offering…

  • ‘Premium’ version of your product or service that includes additional features the standard version doesn’t
  • A package that could include, depending on what you supply, things such as videos, printed reports, digital guides, checklists, a personal website, software and/or cheat sheets that show your customers how to get more out of their wedding when they choose your product or service over somebody else
  • Discount coupons for additional products or services you provide that enhance or complement the main product or service people are purchasing from you
  • Special offers and discount coupons from OTHER merchants in the wedding industry that give your customers a chance to get a discount or extra services, AND let the other merchants have a new customer referred to them as well

When you offer bonuses like this, it makes it much easier for people to see how much extra value you provide, which can increase the number of people who choose you over any of your competitors.

Let’s look at a quick example

Say you supply Wedding Gowns and you’d like to run a product launch to generate a burst of sales during your slow season.

NOTE: Using a launch like this is a great way to pre-sell a bunch of wedding gowns well before they are required, so you can take a large deposit up-front, have plenty of time to create the gowns, and importantly, lock the customer in so they don’t go elsewhere.

You could approach all of the wedding businesses on the list below and ask them to give you coupons for discounted/free stuff in exchange for you reciprocating and helping them to promote their products and services to your customers as well:

  • Artificial Flowers
  • Beauty Therapists
  • Bomboniere
  • Bridal Accessories
  • Bridal Expos
  • Bridal Gown Boutiques
  • Bridal Lingerie
  • Bridal Shoes
  • Bridesmaids Gowns
  • Cake Designers
  • Celebrants
  • Ceremony Music
  • Ceremony Venues
  • Clubs for Receptions
  • Gown Designers
  • Disc Jockeys
  • Dried Flowers
  • Entertainment Agents
  • Florists
  • Function Centres
  • Grooms Fashion
  • Grooms Shoes
  • Hairdressers
  • Hens and Bucks Parties
  • Hire Equipment Suppliers
  • Honeymoon Destinations
  • Hotels
  • Caterers
  • Jewellers
  • Live Entertainers
  • Make Up Artists
  • Master of Ceremonies
  • Photo Booths
  • Photographers
  • Reception Centres
  • Resorts
  • Restaurants
  • Stationary Suppliers
  • Wedding Transport and Limos
  • Travel Agents
  • Wedding Videographers
  • Wedding Stylists

As you can see from this list, there are plenty of different businesses you could approach to work with.

Oh, and EVERY ONE of these businesses could become your Launch (and ongoing) Joint Venture partner.

That means you could have them sending your pre-launch content to their email subscribers and sharing it on their social media pages. And you could pay them a referral fee for each wedding gown you sell.

PLUS, EVERY single business above can do the same thing with all of the other suppliers on the list.

You are only limited by your ability to work collaboratively with your fellow wedding industry business owners and create win-win deals…

You could run a product launch like this 3 or 4 times a year, and promote the products and services of your Joint Venture partner’s businesses during the other months.

Can you see the potential of this for your wedding industry business?

3 More Powerful Benefits Of Using A Product Launch Instead Of Using Hope Marketing

Over the last few posts, we’ve talked about some of the benefits of using the Product Launch Formula process to launch a product or service with a bank instead of a whimper.

We’ve looked at the overall strategy, how to create a Crushing Offer to supercharge your sales, and how to put your list building on steroids by having lots of other people build your list for you.

In this post, we’ll look at 3 more benefits of using the process of ‘launching’ your product instead of going the old way and trying to grow organically which can be long, hard and fraught with risk.

The 3 big benefits we’re talking about are:

  • Massive Positioning Power
  • The Product Launch Parachute
  • Launch Stacking

So let’s look at what these 3 benefits are in more detail.

You always get Massive Positioning Power when you launch because even with a Seed Launch, you are showing your prospects and customers the depth of your skill and knowledge on the topic your product or service is based around.

When you get to your JV launch, you get to spread the word about you and your authority by having a bunch of launch partners send your message to THEIR subscribers and social media followers.

As you can imagine, this gives you massive positioning in the eyes of people who are ideal prospects for you.

The Product Launch Parachute is what Jeff calls the ability of a product launch to survive even the most egregious mistakes and still work really well.

Because you are using a proven process that has a bunch of in-built systems working together, if you miss one, two or even more, the others act as an insurance policies for the overall launch.

So you can miss sending an email, or use the wrong subject line, or have a sales video that is less than spectacular, or have some partners who don’t mail on the right days, or whatever.

Even when a heap of things go wrong, the Product Launch Parachute has a great history of rescuing product launches that with any other system could have ended in disaster.

And perhaps the most powerful benefit of using a launch is Launch Stacking. This is where you go from your Seed Launch, to your Internal Launch, to your Joint Venture Launch

And then you take the list you built during that process, and launch either the sale product again with different (or the same) partners, OR you launch a brand new product to that nice big list.

This can give you so much momentum that your business never looks back.
